A program where foster children are paired with a safe adult for one-on-one mentoring. Mentors are trained and background checked case aides who are equipped to provide social, academic and recreational support for your child and your family.

At each weekly appointment, clients meet one-on-one with a trained peer mentor for one hour. With each lesson that is completed, clients earn “baby bucks” for supplies such as diapers, wipes, clothing, blankets, and much more.

Volunteers are paired with people experiencing homelessness to support them on their journey. Volunteer allies are there to listen, provide companionship, connect clients with resources, and help them realize their goals. Being an ally requires a 6-month commitment where volunteer allies and participants meet in-person twice per month and are available\nfor phone calls and check-in’s in between.

Works with Whatcom County businesses to provide employment services to people with disabilities in our community. Services include help with getting and keeping a job, job coaching and on-site support, goal setting and career consulting, resume writing and interviewing skills practice, and empowerment and advocacy.

Max Higbee Center members are paired with a Recreation Leader to receive one-on-one support to create an individualized, goal-oriented and community-based recreation experience. This service is highly flexible and allows for people to schedule sessions that are tailored and designed based on short-term and long-term goals.

Pairs students with community mentors for 1 hour sessions each week in Lynden, Ferndale, and Nooksack schools.

Max Higbee Center members are paired with a Community Engagement provider to receive one-on-one support to introduce community resources and create lasting relationships, develop goals and strategies, and learn skills that will facilitate integration into the community. This program is contracted through DDA and must be approved by your case manager prior to program start.

Supports pregnant and parenting families who find themselves lacking a healthy support network. Families can access mentors and holistic wrap-around services from the time of awareness of pregnancy to the child’s fifth birthday.
